Android users are anxiously waiting for the latest update Android 8.0 to their devices. It is expected that it will take some more months to appear on the popular handsets of Samsung, LG, HTC, Motorola, and Sony.
Now the question in people’s mind is how long do you have to wait for the update? The answer to this question depends on various factors- your smartphone’s update track record, how new is your phone and the cost of it, whether your phone is locked or carrier branded, the region where you are in and many more.
It is quite obvious that Google will roll out the Android 8.0 Oreo update on their very own Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel, Google Pixel C, and Nexus 6P, Nexus 5 X and Nexus Player.
However, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 LTE and Nexus 9 Wi-Fi have received the Android 7.1.1 Nougat but will not receive the latest Oreo update.
Non-Google devices will get the update after a couple of months or may get it by the mid of 2018. And we have also told you that the Android Oreo update depends on many factors.
The South Korean multinational giant company’s Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to get the Android update by January-February 2018. The update will not be distributed to all the countries at the same time.
When Samsung had to get the Nougat update to their Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, the software update came after 143 days after its release to China and UK. Whereas Android 7.0 Nougat took 180 days to reach the US.
In the case of Android 8.0 Oreo update, t is speculated that Korea will get the update first than the US.
It may take two and a half months to three months, which is by October- November 2017, LG G6 may get the Oreo update. And it is expected that the LG V30 will already be loaded with Android 8.0 update. It is because last year last year also when the Android Nougat was released, the LG V20 came along with the Nougat update.
Sony had already announced that the following handsets will soon get the Android 8.0 Oreo updates-

• Xperia X Performance
• Xperia XZ
• Xperia X Compact
• Xperia XZ Premium
• Xperia XZs
• Xperia XA1
• Xperia XA1 Ultra
• Xperia Touch
• Xperia XA1 Plus
Sony further announced that the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact will be packed with the Android Oreo which will be released in the next few months to come.
The above ten devices will get the Oreo update after three to three and a half months of the arrival of Oreo update that is by November or December 2017.
Motorola just like Sony has announced the list of smartphones which would get the Android Oreo updates, they are as follows-
• Moto Z2 Force – AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon
• Moto Z2 Play – Verizon, unlocked
• Moto Z Force – Verizon
• Moto Z – Verizon, unlocked
• Moto Z Play – Verizon, unlocked
• Moto X4
• Moto G5S Plus – unlocked
• Moto G5 Plus – unlocked
• Moto G5 – unlocked
When the Nougat was first launched, Motorola was the first OEM to get the Android 7.0 update. So now it is speculated that the Android Oreo will reach the Motorola house by October or by the end of November 2017.
HTC has mentioned that their HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 would soon get the Oreo update. However, it is not known by when it shall happen.
Last time, during the Nougat update HTC received it on the T-Mobile HTC 10 after 138 days of the launch of the Android Nougat. Now it is expected that Android 8.0 Oreo will reach HTC by December 2017 or January 2018.
Huawei has announced that the Honor 8 Pro and 6X will receive Android Oreo before 2017 ends. But chances are high that it can be pushed until the end of January 2018.
The company has not revealed as to which all smartphones of Huawei would get the Oreo update, but according to experts, it is predicted that Honor 9 may get the Android Oreo update. Nothing has been officially confirmed. It is also expected that Huawei Mare 10 may come with Android Oreo.
The Android 8.0 Oreo may land in Huawei smartphones by December 2017- January 2018.
OnePlus lags when it comes to software update. Predictions say that Android 8.0 Oreo will reach OnePlus during the October-November window of 2017.
