Android O release date: When Will it release and Which Android devices will get it?

Google will be rolling out its latest operating system, Android O very soon.  Google's upcoming major version of Android may release in early-to-mid August 2017. Android O will be coming with many major updates and a bundle of important aspects of Android.

It is expected that all those people who own Google Pixel will be able to update their software to Android O, in the first few weeks of August. Some sources also say that there won't be a Developer Preview 4, rounding the number of public betas to three.

The day when Android O will be made public, people will be able to enjoy the brand new software. However, only a few selective smartphones will be able to update their operating system to Android O.

Which Phones Will Be Updated To Android O And When?




Google Pixel, Pixel XL- Being Google’s own devices, their smartphones is bound to get the latest update Android O as soon as it is officially launched.

Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X- Just after Pixel, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X will be receiving Android O. This will mostly happen before the year ends.

Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ - As of now, there is no such official confirmation but speculations indicate that the smartphones which will be released next year in January-February 2018 may run on the newest software. The career-specific version of the flagship devices should get it sometime in February-March 2018.

Galaxy Note 8- Galaxy Note 8 will not get access to Android O but may get it by the end of this year or next year in the January-February window.

Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge- We can expect that Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be updated by Android O by next year March-April.

Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ - These three are the last handsets to get the latest update. It will most probably hit them sometime in Spring 2018.




LG V30- Chances are high that LG V30 could be the first smartphone to run on Android O, similarly last year’s V20 was the first handset to be shipped with Android Nougat.

LG G6- This smartphone will get the latest update by this year-end that is November-December.

LG V20- LG V20 will be getting the latest major update either in late 2017 or early 2018.

LG G5- G5 received Android Nougat in mid-May 2017, so considering that we can expect that the owners have to wait for some more time to get the new software.




HTC U11- HTC updates its flagship phones to the latest software in every 90 days. It is expected that by this year-end HTC U11 will get Android O.

HTC 10- After HTC U11, HTC 10 is likely to get the latest update. By early 2018 it will be updated by the newest software.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium- Most probably by 2017 end, the handset will get Android O.

Sony Xperia XZs- All of them will get Android O before 2017 ends.




OnePlus 5- Before 2017 ends, OnePlus 5 handsets will obtain Android O.

OnePus 3/ OnePlus 3T- The CEO of OnePlus 5 Pete Lau promised to update the software of these two devices by the end of this year.




HMD Global promises that all of Nokia's phones so far—Nokia 3, 5, and 6—will be getting updated to the latest software, which is quite the welcome piece of news.

Sadly, there are no projected time windows, and given that Android-powered Nokia phones are fresh newcomers, we have no basis for speculation.

HMD Global has declared that all the Nokia phones launched so far that is Nokia 3, 5 and 6 will be updated to Android O. However, there is no time window given by Nokia as till when it will get the latest updates.
