Apple has collaborated with LG to make a future foldable iPhone. Apple has registered a patent application for a foldable device. The device can be opened and closed like a book and has not been named yet.
"An electronic device may have a flexible portion that allows the device to be folded. The device may have a flexible display. The flexible display may have a bending region that allows the display to bend along a bend axis when the device is folded," said a patent application published by The US Patent and Trademark Office.
Apple has joined hands with LG for the OLED displays instead of Samsung. The main reason behind this was the Cupertino Company feared that some info about the foldable iPhone project may reach their rival- Samsung. Let us remind you that the South Korean Company is also working on a foldable handset.
The production of the foldable iPhone may start from the year 2020. LG has already started their first OLED production for the iPhones at the E5 plant in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.
