Torn between the two Android flagships, LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 XL? Unable to decide which one to prefer, then here is a guide for you. Though there are two different devices, the features make it look more similar. Let us look into the in-depth details that differentiate each other.
Both the smartphones employ the latest design with the full-screen display, rounded corners, and minimum bezel screen. However, there is still a lot more that differs one from another.
LG opted to trim off the display thus making it more compact. The LG V30 features a glass back while the Pixel 2XL sticks to metal and glass material. The polished glass frame gives V30 a classy look. Behind LG’s device, there is a circuitry that supports wireless charging which is missing in Google product.
As for the size, the two devices come with almost same size with Pixel 2 XL being a bit taller than V30. Moreover, with its arched glass back, LG V30 weighs less making it more comfortable to handle.
Now, this is something interesting to compare. The LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 XL feature the same 6-inches OLED display with a resolution at 2560 X 1440 pixels. In the display perspective, neither of the gadgets seems to be perfect.
The Google Pixel 2 Xl display does not show off the same colour quality that we expect from the OLED panel. Though LG V30 provides a clear picture it even has poor visibility which is even worse than the Pixel 2 XL. Though Google tried to make the display more natural and accurate, we prefer V30 since it offers a sharper contrast with more saturated colours.
Performance and OS
Both LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 XL sport the high-end Qualcomm 835 SoC processor. To ensure better multitasking performance, it houses 4GB of RAM and also come in two storage variants (64GB and 128GB). LG V30 offers an extendable storage via Micro SD card. Since they share the same processor, the performance level was smooth and responsive during testing. Now it is up to you of which one you select.
Google product added tweaks to its own software making it fast and responsive. The Pixel 2 XL runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and will receive Android updates much faster than the remaining Android devices. LG V30 even scores well by preferring different user interface design and runs on Andriod 7.1.1 Nougat OS.
Obviously, there exists a lot of difference in the camera functionality of both the devices. LG V30 is coupled with dual rear camera setup with one being a regular sensor and other is the wide-lens camera. Though it is not a major hit, Google Pixel 2 XL introduces portrait mode with the single lens.
As for the picture quality, both devices perform really well in daylight conditions. But in Low light conditions, V30 strives to get enough exposure thus resulting in poor quality images. The 8MP selfie shooter in Pixel 2 XL ensures great shots. The front camera even supports the portrait mode. On the other hand, V30 supports only 5MP front shooter. The camera is also capable of 4K video recording as in Google product and has integrated optical image stabilization.
With the high-end hardware and the great 6.0-inches display, the battery life is something that we need to think about. Pixel 2 XL comes in with 3520 mAh battery backup while LG restricted itself to 3300 mAh battery.
Despite the difference in battery capacity, V30 manage to level the battery life of Google Pixel 2 XL for 9 hours.
In terms of charging capacity, V30 again wins over the race by charging from Nil to 100 % in just 108 minutes while Pixel 2 XL completes a full charge in 152 minutes.
Google Pixel 2 XL offers Google Assistant which is the latest feature that is embedded in every Android phone. Google Lens is another feature to talk about that uses the front camera to differentiate people from places and objects. The V30 fails to do implement this feature but houses several other excellent tools. The point Zoom feature allows you to zoom in particular object besides being at the centre of the image. Another claim to fame in LG V30 is audio quality. The 3.5mm audio jack improves the audio quality.
The LG V30 holds lesser price tag when compared to Google Pixel 2 XL in UAE. However, the price differs from country to country and varies according to storage variant as well.
The LG V30 price in Dubai, UAE is AED 2999.
The Google Pixel 2 XL price in Dubai, UAE is AED 3499.
