The Finnish company at the MWC event introduced five new Nokia phones- Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 8110 4G. The Nokia 1 is the first smartphone to feature Android Go(Oreo) edition. Nokia 8 Sirocco is a premium smartphone and the Nokia 7 plus along with Nokia 6 are the enhanced versions. The Nokia 8110 4G is a feature phone with 4G capabilities. Let us have a look at the detailed information of these latest Nokia mobiles.
The Nokia 1 in Dubai is an entry-level smartphone from HMD Global that is equipped with Go Edition of Android Oreo. It is likely to hit the market in April 2018 in attractive shades. Android Oreo Go Edition is an optimized version of Android for the low-end smartphones. Though the hardware specs of the device are not so impressive, it offers substantial competition in the entry-level market with the Android Go.
The handset features a 4.5-inches IPS display with a 1.1GHz quad-core processor accompanied by a 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. It is given a removable 2150mAh battery. As for the camera, the device is equipped with a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP selfie snapper.
Nokia 6 (2018)
HMD Global launches the revised version of Nokia 6 at MWC 2018. This successor features a “seamless aluminum unibody” design. The processor is upgraded from Snapdragon 430 to Snapdragon 630 SoC. HMD claims that the new processor can perform 80 percent better than the standard Nokia 6 chipset. The Nokia 6 (2018) in Dubai features the same 5.5-inches full HD screen.
Furthermore, there is no improvement even in the camera feature and offers the same 16MP rear camera and 8MP front shooter. It is equipped with a 3000mAh battery which can charge to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. The handset will be shipped in two variants – 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage.
Nokia 7 Plus
Another improved version of HMD Global is Nokia 7 Plus. The successor of Nokia 7 is built of aluminum and features a 6-inches full HD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 X 1080 screen resolution. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The handset is given a 3800mAh battery that can deliver around 14.5 hours of battery life. It further features a dual rear camera of 13MP and 12MP sensor. The front camera is now improved and it is now a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It further comes in with an integrated FM and makes it attractive. Overall, the Nokia 7 Plus takes advantage of having a bigger screen, better battery, and an expandable memory.
Nokia 8 Sirocco
Nokia launched the flagship phone Nokia 8 Sirocco at MWC event. It is given a stainless steel surface rather than aluminum. The handset is dust and water resistant. The Nokia 8 Sirocco in Dubai sports the same camera setup as Nokia 7 Plus. HMD Global claims it as a “the most handsome Nokia ever” because of its powerful and ultra-compact display. At the heart of the device sits the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. It is further given 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 3260mAh battery.
The device supports wireless charging and QuickCharge 4.0. To enhance the sound quality of the speakers, the handset is coupled with a smart amplifier feature and 3-microphone array with an Ozo spatial audio technology.
Nokia 8110 4G
The company took MWC event to launch its feature phone-Nokia 8110. This latest version of Nokia 8110 offers 4G facilities along with a slider design. Though it does not match up with the performance of Nokia 8 Sirocco, the features included making it a capable phone. The so-called “Banana Phone” is given a 2.4-inches curved display beneath the plastic sheath. It is powered by a Qualcomm 205 dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
Despite the feature phone, it is given a 2MP camera that can capture basic pictures. The Nokia 8110 4G in Dubai holds a 1500mAh battery that can deliver 6 hours of continuous video playback and 25 days of standby time. It comes preloaded with a wide range of apps including Facebook, Google Maps, lite version of Google Assistant and Google Search. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth GPS, micro USB 2.0 and 3.5mm headphone Jack.
