Is Nokia Working on a New QWERTY Keyboard Phone?

Did you ever think of QWERTY keyboard mobile phones coming back? Well, I think you should work on it again and get habituated with QWERTY. Recent media reports suggest that the Nokia is planning for a phone that holds a physical keyboard. It seems like HMD global is following Blackberry/TCL who are even interested in launching such handsets.

It’s been a long time since there was a shift from physical keyboard to a touchscreen. In fact, the present trend is looking out for a design that does not include even front home button. With such cases being on trend, it is interesting to learn that a mobile phone from the well-known company is offering QWERTY keyboard. This was first spotted by a Nokia power user and was even approved by FCC with the model being TA-1047.

Rumoured Specs for New Nokia phone :

The FCC filing does not confirm any specifications or features. But the dimensions suggest the possibility of QWERTY keyboard in its design. The details suggest that it holds dual-SIM with dimensions of 133 X 68 mm which is tinier than the old Nokia 2. This smaller smartphone may come up with full QWERTY keyboard which looks almost similar to the old blackberry model.

It may feature 3.3 inches display bearing 480 X 480 screen resolution. The FCC listings also specify that it sports Snapdragon 205 SoC processor and runs on an operating system referred as “Kai OS”.

We never know whether this OS is Android version or its own custom OS. However, the Kai OS could be a revised version of the 2017 Nokia 3310. Given that, there are several Nokia smartphones in UAE that run on stock Android and we can expect TA-1047 to be working on custom OS.

Few other rumours suggest that this could the 4G model of 2017 Nokia 3310. It is even highlighting the new model TA-1047’s Wi-Fi connectivity and 4G features.

There is no hint of when the phone will be officially available. However, let us stretch our imaginations and take it with a pinch of salt. With the CES and MWC shows coming nearby, we can expect HMD global to share their latest devices in either of the events.
