The iconic brand Nokia took its first comeback step into the smartphone industry with the launch of its initial bunch of Android handsets including Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 under the HMD Global banner. The Finnish mobile phone maker has been putting in all the efforts for the successful re-launch of the Nokia handsets in the market. The company unveiled the first set of Nokia Android smartphones earlier this year at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. During the launch, the handsets were announced to run the updated Android 7.0 Nougat. However, things seem to have changed a little now.
As per the latest information, HMD Global has confirmed the three mid-range smartphones will receive the recently launched Android O Beta (Android 8.0) Operating System. Google had officially announced its next Android O Beta version at the 10th annual Google I/O developer conference held in May.
So, now after the new version of Android being made officially available in the market, HMD Global has declared to imbibe the same platform on its upcoming Nokia Android handsets. However, it has not been revealed when we get to access the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones with the updated Android O. Google had informed that the updated Android OS will be available in the market in September or October, so most probably we can expect the mid-range Nokia devices to receive the Android O in Q4.
HMD Global will soon unwrap its bundle of surprises with the launch of its premium flagship phones Nokia 8 and Nokia 9. Read more about this on our blog 'Nokia To Hit UAE Market With Its Android Smartphones Soon!.'
