OnePlus CEO Officially Confirms OnePlus 6 To Have A Glass Build

There are a lot of teasers and rumors going around online about the upcoming OnePlus handset, OnePlus 6. Few are official while few are just rumors in the air. Now the information is from the OnePlus CEO Pete Lau who has officially confirmed the device with a glass build. Lau further stated that this would let the customers to have “premium hand-feel’ while holding and adds “sense of value”. If this is the case, then the OnePlus 6 will be the first OnePlus handset featuring the glass back after OnePlus X. According to the images leaked, we can identify that upcoming OnePlus handset will have a curved edges with attractive color options.


"OnePlus 6's glass design is centered around creating a “sense of value” and “premium hand-feel.” As I mentioned at the beginning, people relate deeply to the products they use. We gave a lot of thought to how users should feel when they use the OnePlus 6. The advantages of glass over metal are manifold: glass communicates a transparent, bright, and pure feeling. The way glass transforms under different lighting is a particularly important challenge—the OnePlus design team tested over 70 glass prototypes before selecting the best one. At the same time, we always want to create devices that feel premium to the touch.”

Lau stated before choosing the perfect model, their team tried on 70 different glass samples. So, the final product will definitely have a high-quality build material. It may further replace the 3-layer Nanotech coating with 5-layers. Though there is a glass build, there are no official details of OnePlus 6 supporting wireless charging. However, from the previous rumors, we can expect the device to have a wireless charging support.


OnePlus has already leaked out few other internal specifications including the Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. Furthermore, OnePlus 6 in Dubai will be water resistant thus enters the top list of best water resistant smartphones. The successor of OnePlus 5T is likely to make its debut in the coming weeks. With its glass rear, OnePlus 6 will definitely carry a new look than its predecessors.
