Review: Samsung Galaxy Note 8

It was necessary for the South Korean Conglomerate to come back with a bang with the Galaxy Note 8, as its predecessor Note 7 had damaged the company’s reputation. And now when finally Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is out of the box, we can say that the multinational tech company has crafted an enormous phablet.


The Galaxy Note 8 has a large display of 6.3 inches with ‘Infinity Display’. It comprises of a whopping 6GB RAM with a superb dual camera set up and is supported by a rocking battery life. However, let us tell you that Note 8 is exorbitantly priced but it is really worth the price.

Design and Display:


The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 flaunts a curved edge with almost no bezel and has an Infinity Display. The phablet is quite big and heavy. It has a 6.3 inches display with no physical home button.


Samsung consistently works hard on its display. And with every 6 months comes up with the world’s best display. The brand new phablet has great brightness, 3K resolution with Mobile HDR Premium, and wider color gamut which gives tough competition to the other top class flagship handsets of the market.


The only problem with the Note 8 is you will feel that it is quite slippery because of its pure glass body. So you need to put a cover so that it doesn’t slip out of your hand.

The Note 8 is available in soft colors like Midnight Black and Orchid Gray, while the Maple Gold and Deep Sea Blue colors.


The speakers of Note 8 are not as impressive as we expected them to be. Samsung should have implemented front facing speakers just like some models of Sony and LG.


The new phablet is dust and water resistant. It is IP68 certified, which means it can easily stay in water up to 1.5 meters below water until 30 minutes. The touch ID sensor is placed at the back side of the device beside the rear camera. You will also find the logo of Samsung behind the handset.

RAM and Storage:


The Galaxy Note 8 performs super-fast, thanks to its whopping 6GB RAM and has an internal storage of 64GB which can be further boosted by installing an SD card.

Processor and OS:


The Note 8 is powered by the powerful and latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. In the UK and some other places, the Note 8 will work blazing fast as they will run on Samsung’s Exynos chipsets. The strong chipset supports heavy multitasking very easily.

Samsung has given its best camera lens in the Galaxy Note 8. It captures images which render bright, colorful and an awesome bokeh (background blur) effect. The device houses a dual camera module which offers bokeh-rich ‘Live Focus’ photos.


It also blurs photo backgrounds, which lessens photobombing distractions and lets your important subject stand out. It also saves zoomed-in Live Focus photo and the wider original photo by default, which is different.


The rear camera enables you to adjust the depth of field blur. A bokeh slider bar is displayed when you’re taking the photo, and it doesn’t go away after you’ve clicked the picture.


Note 8 provides photo modes such as Auto, Pro, Panorama, and Food and while the missing photo modes can be downloaded from the Galaxy App Store. You will also find a new Full View camera option, which caters to the dimensions of Snapchat and Instagram Stories.


The video options comprise recording in 4K with smooth OIS. Samsung’s video options include the more usual modes, like Slow Motion and Hyperlapse.
