Samsung officially confirms the launch of its next flagship at the upcoming MWC 2018 in Barcelona. The Samsung mobile chief says that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be unwrapped at the world’s largest exhibition happening in February.
Until now, it was rumoured that the Samsung will show off the Galaxy S8 successor at CES. However, one of the company rep clearly stated that it is quite unlikely to show up the Galaxy S9 at Las Vegas trade show. This leads to the conclusion that the Samsung Electronics could unveil the flagship either with a separate launch event or at MWC.
Now, Samsung mobile division Chief DJ Koh confirms that the South Korean giant will unveil its first flagship of 2018 at the popular MWC trade show. This indirectly proves the launch of Galaxy S9.
Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S8 in March 2017 and was ready for shipping by April 2017. Following the same suit, with the launch of Galaxy S9 in February, we can expect the new flagship to hit the market by March 2018.
If speculations are to be true, then the Galaxy S9 can feature a dual rear camera setup and may have Exynos 9810 chipset. It will be available in two storage variants: 64GB and 128GB. With its new chipset, the Galaxy S brand flagship is now capable of supporting four image sensors “dual cameras in the rear along with a camera and iris scanner at the front”. The Samsung Galaxy S9 will surely take advantage of the new processor and advanced camera setup.
Apart from the launch date, Samsung Electronics hasn’t confirmed anything about the Galaxy S9. So we will have to wait until MWC event to get more details about the upcoming flagship in 2018.
