After the high-end smartphones Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung is yet to announce a mid-range smartphone in Galaxy J-series this year. Recently, an unknown Samsung smartphone with the model number, SM-J805G was spotted on benchmark site Geekbench. This device is expected to be Samsung Galaxy J8 Plus which may make its appearance in the coming months.
According to the listing, the rumored handset is likely to pack in Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB RAM and an Adreno 560 GPU. In the benchmark tests, the alleged device managed to get 749 points in single core tests and 3708 points in multi-core tests. It even passed the test with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. These scores are almost similar to the Snapdragon 625 powered devices like Xiaomi Redmi Note4X. This is not the Samsung’s first handset to feature Snapdragon 625 processor. The South Korean giant previously released smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy C7 and Galaxy On7 that feature the same chipset.
Samsung Galaxy J8 Plus Specifications
Benchmarks didn’t confirm any details of design, camera or battery specifications. But, the previous rumors say the new Galaxy J8 Plus to feature 16MP sensor both on front and rear end. Or, it may have dual 8MP sensors embedded on either side. It is likely to have 5.5-inches display with HD resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. The new handset can carry an 18:9 aspect ratio with minimum bezels on top and bottom. As for the fingerprint sensor, it may take its place on the rear end.
In January, Galaxy J8 was also spotted on Geekbench with Exynos 7870 Soc and 3GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy J8 appeared with model number SM-J720F. Now, we find the plus variant on the same website. Samsung is striving hard to get its position back especially in the mid-range sector. This is possible only if the company offers the better-featured smartphone at a competitive price tag. Now, we need to wait to find what Samsung is bringing up in the future to overcome the competition.
