Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Vs Google Pixel 2XL

Since the launch of Google Pixel 2XL, it was considered to be the best Android devices. Few people say it to be better than Samsung devices. Now, the South Korean giant is back again with the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. It received all those latest specs which make it eligible to receive the crown back. Both the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Google Pixel 2XL are comparable in many ways. Let us have a glimpse at early specs of larger variants of Apple and Samsung.

Design & Display

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus follows the same design as its predecessor S8. It features the same glass body with tapered edges along with rounded corners. The Pixel 2XL also sports the same rounded corners and is more square and flat. It features the 6-inches pOLED display surrounded by an aluminum frame thus ensuring durability.

On the other end, S9 Plus is a bit bigger at 6.2-inches Quad HD AMOLED display. However, there is a difference in color reproduction. The Galaxy S9 Plus display is bright, vibrant and even saturated and thus makes the Pixel 2XL down. Furthermore, the Samsung’s bezels are far thinner than Google’s device.

Processor & performance

As a flagship model, the Galaxy S9 Plus in UAE features all those latest specs like the powerful Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM, dual camera and stereo speakers. On the other end, the Google Pixel 2XL is powered by the old Snapdragon 835 processor which is not as efficient as 845 SoC. Furthermore, it features 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage options.

Though Samsung offers only single 64GB storage option, it offers the microSD slot that allows expanding the memory size to 400GB. This feature puts it ahead of Pixel 2XL. As for the software, the Galaxy S9 Plus runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and the Google Pixel 2XL runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Samsung finally introduced the dual camera module with Galaxy S9 Plus. It features the dual 12MP sensors with autofocus, OIS (Optical image stabilization), EIS (Electronic image stabilization) and variable aperture. As for the secondary sensor, it holds a fixed aperture of f/2.4. The lens automatically gets adjusted between f/1.5 and f/2.4. As for the front camera, it is the same 8MP sensor of f/1.7 aperture and autofocus capabilities. This should allow you to take pretty shots, especially in low light conditions. The Pixel 2XL, on the other hand, included a separate image sensor which can enhance photos from the third party apps.

There is a 12.3MP camera and an 8MP front camera to take better selfies. Both the devices feature an AI camera assistant. The Galaxy S9 Plus has a Bixby assistant and Pixel 2XL has Google Lens. Another impressive feature of the S9 Plus is super slow motion video at 960fps in 1080p. The Google’s device is not that much impressive at this aspect and can shoot 4K videos at 30fps. Overall, the new features and innovations included in the Galaxy S9 Plus allow it to take a great shot. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth GPS, NFC, 4G and USB Type-C.

The Samsung’s flagship packs in 3500mAh battery while the Pixel device features 3250mAh battery. Though there is not a much noticeable difference in the battery capacity, the latest processor in the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus adds value to the device. Both devices support fast charging technology, but only Galaxy S9 plus has wireless charging capability. With the more efficient processor and wireless charging feature, S9 Plus in Dubai wins the race.

Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will begin from March 2. It is likely to be more expensive than Samsung Galaxy S8 plus price in Dubai. The Google Pixel 2XL price in Dubi varies according to the storage configurations.
