Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Vs iPhone X Vs Google Pixel 2XL

Samsung unwrapped two flagships in the last month, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. They include all those latest features like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, Android 8.0 Oreo OS and more. These Galaxy smartphones are competing with the highly popular Apple iPhone X and Google Pixel 2XL. The iPhone X features the impressive camera set up while the Pixel 2XL is in the race with its unlimited cloud storage. Design & Display

For the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Dubai, the South Korean giant stuck on for glass and metal body design. It features a 6.2-inches Super AMOLED display that sports 18:9 aspect ratio. The overall design is almost similar to Galaxy S8 Plus but the bezels around top and bottom are reduced. Apple iPhone X features an edge-to-edge display of 5.8-inches with a screen resolution of 2436 X 1125 pixels. Unlike Galaxy S9 Plus, the iPhone X doesn't have bottom bezels but it holds a controversial notch on the top. It houses the TrueDepth front camera with sensors.

The Google Pixel 2XL has a 6.0-inches display with curved edges almost similar to Galaxy S9 Plus. However, the Pixel 2 XL display is now pOLED with a screen resolution of 2880 X 1440 pixels. The pOLED display has faced a lot of criticism considering the burn issues. The iPhone X doesn’t feature fingerprint scanner while the other two offer the same. Galaxy S9 Plus is IP68 rated and the other two are IP67 rated. Another major difference is in terms of camera. Though the Google Pixel 2XL don’t have a dual rear camera still it features the portrait mode both on front and back.

OS and Processor

When it comes to the performance, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus packs in Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which is way ahead than Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in Pixel 2XL. On the other end, the Apple iPhone X runs on an A11 bionic chip which is designed to support facial recognition. Though it is not officially revealed, the iPhone X boasts only 3GB RAM and 64GB/256GB storage. The Google Pixel 2XL in Dubai offers 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage options. Both these devices do not have a microSD slot.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus leads the race in terms of memory as it offers 6GB RAM and supports three storage variants – 64GB/128GB/256GB. There is even a microSD slot to expand the memory to 400GB. On the software front, the Samsung device and Google device come out of the box with Android 8.0 Oreo. The iPhone X runs on iOS 11 and supports swiping gestures. Moreover, the Pixel 2XL is now upgraded to Android 8.1 thus holding all those latest Android Oreo features.

Camera

Here’s where the main difference exists. Until the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and iPhone X were into the market, Google Pixel 2XL were known to have best smartphone camera. Despite single 12MP sensor, the image processing algorithms in the Google device make it compete. On the other end, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus does have a secondary sensor to handle bokeh effects. The f/1.5 aperture on 12MP sensor lets you capture impressive shots in low-light.

Moreover, the Galaxy S9 Plus features a variable aperture sensor that automatically shifts between f/1.5 and f/2.4. Apple iPhone X also features a dual rear 12MP camera but the 7MP TrueDepth front camera keeps it apart. The Google Pixel 2XL and Galaxy S9 Plus has an 8MP front camera of f/1.7 aperture. The Samsung handset has dual OIS, 2X optical zoom and a new super slo-mo mode for recording videos at 960fps. Apple iPhone X slo-mo video is limited to 240fps.

Battery

While the iPhone X battery capacity is not known, but the other two handsets carry an almost similar battery. The Galaxy S9 Plus features 3500mAh battery and Pixel 2XL holds 3520mAh battery. The minor variation doesn’t make a real difference. Despite solid usage, all the handsets can power for an entire day. The Samsung device takes a lead with wireless charging capability over Pixel 2XL.

Price

Out of the three handsets, the iPhone X seem to be the expensive option with Apple iPhone X price in UAE of AED 4304. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus price is around AED 3299 in UAE. While the Google Pixel 2XL price is about AED 3439.
