The latest Honor device gave a tough competition to almost all the high-end flagships released in the market. The Honor View 10 made its debut in the early January and since then it is going toe-to-toe with other smartphones like OnePlus 5T. With the South Korean giant just released its most anticipated flagship Samsung Galaxy S9 at MWC 2018 event-how would the Honor device compete with this latest Samsung smartphone.
Both are two different flagships featuring premium design, great dual camera setup and sturdy build quality. Though a bit expensive, the Samsung Galaxy S9 in Dubai holds the features that make it worthy to buy. On the other end, the Honor View 10 is a budget-friendly handset boasting impressive features. So, let us have a look at both these phones and know how they differ in terms of design, display, specs and price.
Design & Display
As for the design, nothing can beat the Samsung Galaxy S9 in UAE. With its modern curves, glass finish and the infinity display, the Galaxy S9 design is almost similar to its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S8. However, it has maintained perfection in every little detail thus making it one of the best smartphones of 2018. The Honor View 10 comes in with an all-metal body, rounded corners and gives a pleasant look. Though it is not attractive than the Samsung flagship, the aluminum frame makes it more durable. Both devices are equipped with a headphone jack.
When it comes to the display, the Honor View 10 in Dubai has 5.99-inches LCD display of 1080 X 2160 resolution, and 18:9 aspect ratio. While the Samsung Galaxy S9 boasts 5.8-inches OLED display that offers vibrant display colors. However, the screen resolution is a bit high in Galaxy S9 at 2960 X 1440 pixels. Though the display screen size is higher in Honor View 10, the higher screen resolution with a premium design of Samsung Galaxy S9 makes it worth to buy.
Processor & performance
Which device performs better? As a budget-friendly device, the Honor View 10 will have some compromises. Still, the Honor device offers the best performance for the money you spent. As in Huawei Mate 10 pro, the Honor View 10 also packs in Kirin 970 processor with AI enhancements. The AI benefits can be seen while using the camera.
Moreover, the Honor flagship offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that is further expandable. On the other end, the Samsung Galaxy S9 packs in the powerful and latest Qualcomm processor- Snapdragon 845. Both the devices run on the same Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box but uses two different UI.
Talking about the camera, the Honor View 10 camera is not that efficient as Samsung Galaxy S9. However, the dual 16MP and 20MP rear perform pretty well with AI capabilities. While the Galaxy S9 features a single 12MP camera and works with dual aperture mode. The aperture is variable from f/1.5-f/2.4 depending on environmental conditions. On the front end, the Honor View 10 comes in with a 13MP sensor and the Galaxy S9 has an only 8MP sensor. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth GPS, NFC, 4G and USB Type-C.
One area in which the Honor View 10 shines is in terms of battery. It offers massive 3750mAh battery that works with the powerful Kirin processor to render best battery life. While the Samsung Galaxy S9 features only 3000mAh battery that has chances to degrade at a faster rate. Considering the Samsung Galaxy S9 price, it would have come up with higher battery. However, the South Korean giant restricted the battery capacity to 3000mAh. While the plus variant- Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus comes in with a bit higher battery of 3500mAh.
From the above review, we can understand that both devices are two different flagships that out-rates one another in few aspects. As for the design, camera, build quality the Samsung Galaxy S9 is the best option to buy if budget is not an issue. The Honor View 10 does its best in terms of battery life, selfie camera, memory offered and price. So, it is quite difficult to make a choice. If money is not a concern, then it is better to prefer the Samsung flagship. For the regular usage with best performance and battery life, Honor View 10 would be the better option.
