HMD Global has launched many smartphones in 2017 including the Nokia 8. At MWC 2018 it has even introduced five phones including the feature phone Nokia 8110. It is working hard to lead the smartphone market through its latest innovations. Despite the launch of five phones at MWC event, it is rumored that Nokia is in works on other device known ad Nokia 8 Plus. It is ought to be the larger and powerful version of Nokia 8.
If it is to be so powerful then let us take a step in comparing the alleged Nokia 8 Plus in UAE with the latest Samsung Galaxy S9 that was introduced in the popular event. Let us see if it can compete with this high-end smartphone.
Design & Display
The Samsung Galaxy S9 in UAE is mostly made of glass covered by a metal frame. On the other end, we expect the rumored Nokia 8 Plus to have an all-metal body with an IP68 rating. It could probably be dust and water resistant. From one of the leaked image, we can find the device with tiny bezels and dual lens front camera.
On the front end, there is no hint for a fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inches full HD display while the rumored Nokia 8 Plus could sport a 5.5-inches QHD OLED screen with 2560 X 1440 resolution. Its predecessor Nokia 8 had only 5.3-inches LCD screen.
Processor & performance
The South Korean giant preferred the latest Snapdragon 845 processor for Galaxy S9 with 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage variants. Sources claim that the rumored Nokia handset will have the same old Snapdragon 835 chipset but it holds the higher RAM capability of 6GB. There are chances that the HMD Global may prefer including the Snapdragon 845 processor.
It is not sure whether Nokia will stick on to the old stock Android or will upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo. Few sources also suggest that the Nokia 8 Plus in Dubai may have both fingerprint scanner and iris scanner as in Galaxy S9.
Camera and Battery
Early rumors suggest the rumored Nokia 8 plus to feature dual lens camera both on the front and rear end. While the Samsung Galaxy S9 has a single 12MP shooter on the rear end and 8MP front snapper. The alleged Nokia 8 Plus in UAE is likely to carry much bigger camera setup with a 22MP Carl Zeiss rear camera and 12MP sensor on the front end.
As for the battery, the Nokia handset is likely to carry 3800mAh battery which is of higher capacity than the 3000mAh battery in Samsung Galaxy S9. Both the devices may compete with each other in connectivity options which include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth GPS, NFC, 4G and USB Type-C.
Well! The name of upcoming Nokia flagship is still unclear. But it is sure that HMD Global is working on the new model with bezel-less design, powerful processor, and high-end specifications. These technical specifications make it compete with the latest Samsung Galaxy S9. Since nothing is official, we need to wait and see what HMD global is planning for in the upcoming flagship. Until then we suggest to take everything with a pinch of salt.
