Samsung Galaxy X: Foldable Smartphone Secret Appearance at CES 2018

The most awaited device from the South Korean company is Samsung Galaxy X- the foldable smartphone. After years of speculations, now Samsung unveils the foldable smartphone secretly. According to the Korea Herald, Samsung unveiled the prototype of the foldable smartphone in front of a private audience on January 10, 2018.


Source quotes this as “Samsung Display said it has developed a 7.3-inch foldable panel with plans to start production later this year”.

It is likely to feature a 7.3-inches OLED display which folds both inward and outward. The report further says that Samsung has even presented the launch schedule and the development is almost finished.

Rumors suggest that the foldable device will arrive in two versions: Infolding and Outfolding. The infolding type of Galaxy X with a curvature of 1R will get into production by November 2018. The out-folding Galaxy X may feature a lesser curvature than infolding and includes more advanced technology. Samsung can achieve the flexibility with plastic material for the display screen.


Another recent rumor from the Korean media report says that the Samsung Galaxy foldable smartphone can make its debut by this December. Rumors confirm that the foldable smartphone will be named as Samsung Galaxy X in Dubai which already cleared Bluetooth certification.

It is quite clear that Samsung is looking to beat its major rival Apple with its foldable smartphone along with the foldable tablet in Dubai. In November 2017, Apple filed a patent for a flexible portion of iPhone. It is speculated that the tech giant Apple is working with LG display for the foldable iPhone.

The final version of Samsung Galaxy X is expected to release in November this year. Though it includes many software-based production issues, the South Korean company is working towards to create a display that folds smoothly and performs well. It is likely that Huawei is competing with Samsung to launch the foldable smartphone in November 2018.
