Samsung Officially Announces Exynos 9810 Chipset with AI Features

With a brief appearance back in November, Samsung now makes the first true 9-Series Exynos 9810 official.  This is the most powerful processor from Samsung that sports some impressive features.  It will power the upcoming flagships namely Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

The new processor is built on a second-generation 10nm FinFET process that promises great performance. Furthermore, the processor packs in custom Octa-core CPU, advanced GPU and even supports faster gigabit LTE connectivity. The Exynos 9810 processor boasts in advanced image processing capabilities for better multimedia experiences. It also houses an advanced 3D face ID technology with AI.


The detail specs of the new chipset are not yet clear. But, Samsung reveals that the eight-core CPU has four third-generation custom cores that clocks at 2.9GHz and another four are for efficiency. The multi-core processor can perform 40 percent better than its predecessor Exynos 8895.

The Exynos 9810 also boasts neural network based capabilities, 3D facial scanning system, and improved security features. Samsung claims that the Hybrid face recognition system will rely both on hardware and software to deliver realistic face-tracking filters with stronger security. To ensure safety, all the fingerprint, facial or iris information is placed on a separate security processing unit.

Ben Hur, vice president of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics says “The Exynos 9 Series 9810 is our most innovative mobile processor yet, with our third-generation custom CPU, ultra-fast gigabit LTE modem and, deep learning-enhanced image processing,”

“The Exynos 9810 will be a key catalyst for innovation in smart platforms such as smartphones, personal computing and automotive for the coming AI era.”

Samsung’s Exynos 9810 chipset also features Cat.18 LTE Modem that offers download speeds at 1.2Gbps and upload speed of 200Mbps. The LTE modem further makes the UHD video streaming easier than ever. The dual-ISP feature gives room for four image sensors, a dual rear camera with a camera and a separate Iris sensor. It also supports advanced stabilization feature for both images and UHD videos.


However, we need to wait for a little longer to check if the Samsung’s Exynos 9810 matches up to Apple’s A11 bionic chip. Samsung is showing off its innovative Exynos 9810 processor at CES 2018. Samsung is ready to deliver technological yet innovative advancements through its new processor.
