Vivo X20 Plus, the first smartphone featuring in-display fingerprint sensor will make its debut on January 24. Earlier this month, the manufacturer showed off this concept and is now all set to make it commercial. This is the first device to sport Synaptics Clear ID 9500 which is an optical fingerprint sensor that integrates into the display screen.
Almost all the tech giants like Apple and Samsung were not successful in implementing the technology into their smartphones. So, this is a huge opportunity for the Chinese manufacturer to show off its technological innovation.
The upcoming device with a Synaptics in-display sensor takes the place at the bottom of the display. It has received the TENAA certification recently and initially it was named as Vivo X20 Plus UD. As per the reports from the official Weibo account, Vivo is planning to host this event on January 24 at Beijing, China. However, there are no details about the specs of the new upcoming smartphone.
Nevertheless, the TENAA listing confirms that the Vivo X20 Plus will ship in with 6.43-inches OLED display, 2.2GHz Octa-core processor accompanied with a 4GB of RAM. Furthermore, the smartphone holds a dual rear camera setup with 12MP and 5MP sensors. The front camera holds a 12MP sensor. The Vivo X20 Plus is further equipped with 3800mAh battery and 128GB of onboard storage that is further extendable up to 256GB via microSD card. The main attraction of the device is the in-display fingerprint sensor. Vivo in collaboration with Synaptics integrated the Clear ID in-display fingerprint sensor which performed really well during tests. The phone along with the sensor is accurate, simple and fast.
Synaptics further claimed that it is going to release 70 million units of in-display fingerprint sensor this year. These new sensors replace the existing fingerprint solutions with a fingerprint recognition at 1.5mm thick. It will be available in different color variants like “Black Gold”, “Matte Black”, “Rose Gold”, and “Champagne Gold”.
The Vivo X20 Plus price in Dubai, UAE is still unknown. However, with the recent V7 release, the Vivo X20 plus would be a great followup for the Chinese company.
