Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 exploded in the pocket of a user in Andhra Pradesh, India. As per a website, the incident took place when the user was riding a bike. The fire which broke out after the explosion could not be extinguished even after pouring water on his pants. As a result, the man suffered serious injuries due to the explosion.
Xiaomi has started an investigation after the fiery incident that took place. The company even contacted the victim. “We take such matters seriously as customer safety is of utmost importance for Xiaomi. All of our devices go through stringent quality tests,” a Xiaomi spokesperson said in a statement, adding that they have contacted the customer and are in the process of procuring the damaged product to investigate the matter.
The user Bhavana Suryakiran bought the handset online just 20 days ago. He said that he will move to the court against Xiaomi for selling a ‘defective’ unit and seek compensation for injuries sustained.
A few days ago, a Redmi Note 4 exploding became viral which was later turned out to be fake. The smartphone company after a thorough investigation said that the explosion at Bangalore happened because of using faulty third-party charger used by the customer.
“In addition, there were signs of physical damage on the phone as well. We advise our customers to only use Xiaomi authorized chargers and accessories,” the company had said.
